Today we will be discussing how to upload files onto a FTP server with Internet Explorer. This method can be used to upload files to any server - given that you have the following information:
FTP Username
FTP Password
FTP Location
Let’s Begin!
Step 1: Open Internet Explorer

Go ahead and open up Internet Explorer, which can usually be found in
Start > Programs > Internet Explorer
or simply on your desktop as a shortcut.
Keep in mind that this tutorial is compatible with all versions of Internet Explorer since vs. 4.0.
Step 2: Enter the Login information in the address bar (URL)
Now we will enter the following information in the Address Bar. Be sure that there is no additional white space before or after the url.
ftp://wecftpuser:ftpUser01@whatevercompany.com
In this address there are three key pieces of information:
Username: wecftuser
Password: ftpuser01
FTP Location: whatevercompany.com
(i.e. ftp://Username:Password@FTP Location
The Username is:
The Password is:
And the FTP Location is the base URL:
After you have copied and pasted the login information listed above in your Address Bar, click “GO”.
Step 3: The FTP Interface

After successfully logging in, you will see the FTP Interface. Here you can easily add / delete / download files from this directory. We will simply be utilizing a drag-and-drop upload function. To do this, open Windows Explorer. This can be achieved through right clicking on the “START” Button at the bottom left corner of your screen, and from the pop-up menu, selecting “Explore”.
Step 4: Uploading your first file via Drag-and-Drop

After opening Windows Explorer, locate your file. Simple left click and hold on the file - then in one fluid motion drag and drop it from the Windows Explorer interface to the Internet Explorer FTP interface.
Step 5: Copying the File

Once you have released your drag-and-drop motion from Windows Explorer to Internet Explorer, you will see a pop-up copying dialogue box. Sit back and watch. Your file has successfully been uploaded!
